Huck Defeats Godfrey - WBO cruiserweight world champion Marco “Käpt’n” Huck (30-1, 23 KOs) overwhelmed challenger Matt Godfrey (20-2, 10 KOs), stopping him in round five on Saturday night at the Messehalle in Erfurt, Germany. The aggressive and powerful Huck was way too strong for Godfrey, dropping Godfrey for the first time at the end of round two. Godfrey was down again in round three after a low blow from Huck, thrown as he punished Godfrey on the ropes. After a one-sided round four, Huck floored Godfrey twice in round five (knocking him through the ropes the second time) and after further punishment, referee Geno Rodriguez stopped the fight. Time was 2:18.
Heavyweight, Robert Helenius (13-0, 8 KOs) defeated Gregory Tony (12-1, 10 KOs) for the the vacant EU heavyweight championship.
Light heavyweight Dustin Dirks (16-0, 11 KOs) knocked out Sami Selesmaa (4-2, 2 KOs) 2:41 into round two.
Middleweight Dominik Britsch (20-0, 7 KOs) managed an eight round unanimous decision over Lorenzo Cosseddu (23-5-5, 2 KOs). Scores were 77-75, 77-75, 78-75.
Cruiserweight Enad Licina took a clear eight round unanimous decision over veteran Ismail Abdoul.
Artist Patrick Nielsen needed just 59 seconds to KO Laszlo Haaz (3-2) in round one.
Middleweight Marcos Nader (8-0, 1 KO) kept his un-defeated record with an eight round unanimous decision over experienced Kai Kauramaki (17-16, 6 KOs).
