Joe Rivera - Comeback Vs Antonio Pitalua

47 year old welterweight Joe Rivera is set to make a come back on September 4 at the Auditorium Teopanzolco, Cuernavaca in México.
Puerto Rican, Rivera whose last official outing between the ropes was thirteen years ago against Juan Soberanes, will be taking on 40 year old Colombian power puncher Antonio Pitalua for the - WBO Latino welterweight title.
A return to the ring after thirteen years to face a puncher like Pitalua is certainly not the wisest of moves by Rivera who in a 17 year career had a record of - won 20 (KO 14) + lost 8 (KO 4) + drawn 2.
It is rather strange that a boxer of Rivera’s age comes out of retirement and with no warm up fights goes directly to face a quality opponent such as Pitalua.
This could very well be a recipe for disaster – Rivera should not be in any ring with the likes of Pitalua, he is very likely to be outclassed - outboxed and very likely to head back to retirement.
