UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 28, 2010 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.

This event will be the first the UFC has held in Massachusetts and the third UFC Fan Expo is expected to coincide with the UFC 118 event.

While the main card for this event is headlined by the Frankie Edgar (c) vs.  B.J. Penn fight. The main attraction and focus will be on the co headliner, which will feature the debut in UFC and MMA events of former boxing (middleweight & Cruiserweight) champ – James Toney who will be going in the cage against  the former UFC champion (heavyweight & light heavyweight)  Randy Couture.

Toney who in the past was one of those from the boxing world who had bad mouthed the UFC and Mixed Martial Arts fighters and boasted of his aggressiveness being superior to those of UFC fighters is now a converted UFC Fan.

This Boxing Vs MMA issue is rather ridiculous – these are two different fight sports – which require diverse skills and movements. How would an MMA fighter fare in a boxing ring? Probably not much better than a boxer in the cage.

Both sports produce superb fighting athletes in different ways & styles.  

Granted that Toney has been preparing with proper training for his UFC debut but he has no previous grappling experience, chokes & submission holds are alien in his repertoire of skills. Perhaps Toney with his undisputed warrior spirit will surprise us all - but the odds are not in his favor.
