Central American and Caribbean Games
The Boxing competition is now entered into its fourth day – Malta Boxing News - Blog is publishing the results daily.
"With a total of 20 countries and 121 boxers the boxing tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games 2010 has begun, this edition is the number XXI of these games.
This tournament is taking place in the city of Mayaguez located at the western of Puerto Rico.
Several boxers that have been medalist in different world championships are competing in this event, such as: Jose Pedraza from Puerto Rico, runner-up of Milan World Championships 2009.
Other boxers are Oscar Valdez from Mexico champion of the Junior World Championships 2008 and the bronze medalist in Milan World championship; Jonathan Gonzalez champion of the Junior World Championship 2008; and Luis Miguel Diaz from Dominican Republic bronze medalist in the Junior world championship 2008 and runner up of AIBA President Cup 2009.
The final competitions will be taking place from July 30th to 31 at the Rafael Angel Mangual Coliseum, Puerto Rico University´s.
The tournament is supervised by the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC), which assigned all officials who are leading the competition headed by Luis Zelicokowicz from Argentina as Technical Official. "
On the second day of the Boxing Tournament of the XXI Central American & Caribbean, the Dominican Republic secured it’s fifth victory in a road.
Wardely Rodriguez won by points 12-5 to Jose Soto in the 81 kgs to the advantage Dominican team.
Puerto Rico with 7 bouts, has lost 2 and is ranked second in the event. Followed by Mexico with five wins and three defeats.
The Dominican Republic will seek to extend their victories today, will fight one of its best boxers, Luis Miguel Diaz in the 48kg, which will face Gilbert Pedroza of Panama.
Boxing at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (The AIBA)
AIBA boxers who qualified in the AIBA Youth World Championships will be taking part in the first-ever Youth Olympic Games which will be held from the14th to 26th of August, 2010 in Singapore.
The Youth Olympic Games will bring together the world’s most talented athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. Based on the current Summer Olympic model of 26 sports, the Youth Olympic Games are about high-level sporting competition in an environment where young athletes are encouraged to learn, share and build friendships through a supporting Culture and Education Programme.
Unlike a Junior World Championships, the Youth Olympic Games offer young athletes not only a broad understanding of international competition but also exposure to many different sports and cultures.
With sport as a foundation, the Youth Olympic Games offer young athletes their first taste of the Olympic experience, including what it’s like to stay together in an Athletes Village, and provides valuable lessons that the athletes can leverage in their future careers, be it in sport or other vocations.
In Singapore, 66 Youth boxers who qualified for the YOG at the AIBA Youth World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan will compete in the IOC's first edition of the Youth Olympic Games which will take place from August 14 to 26.
The Youth boxing will be divided in 11 Weight Categories: 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91+kg. The bouts consisted of three rounds of three minutes each with one minute to rest between rounds.

European Union Women Championships
Will be held in the city of Pécs the fifth largest city of Hungary, between the 3rd and 8 of August.
The Nikolaev Cup
Is an AIBA sanctioned event taking place in Nikolaev, Ukraine beginning August 10th and concluding August 16th 2010.
This event will include boxers who are boxing out of the Women Division (17-34).
